Research Interests

Welcome!

In my research I want to improve the design of video-based meeting systems to help users avoid displeasuring states, such as high cognitive load or fatigue. Therefore, I want to use biosignals to recognize and classify the user's current state and adapt the system accordingly. My main topics of interest are:

  • Video-based meeting systems and their impact on the user
  • System adaptations based on user's (bio)signals
  • Recognition and classification of user states with machine learning (ML) techniques
  • Experimental Research

Short CV

Since 10.2021 Doctoral Researcher at the Institute of Information Systems and Service Design (ISSD) at the KIT
2018-2021 M.Sc. Industrial Engineering & Management, KIT
2014-2018 B.Sc. Industrial Engineering & Management, KIT

Internships and work experience at adesso SE, Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC, Kawasaki, Japan) and EnBW AG.

Teaching

If you are interested in a Bachelor or Master Thesis in a related topic to my research interests, send a mail to julia.seitz∂kit.edu with your CV and your current transcript of records.

I am also interested to hear your own topic ideas in the area of Video-based meeting systems, recognizing user states via biosignals (Eye, Heart Data) or adapting systems based on biosignals.

Current Thesis Topics:

Topic Type
A Classification of Video Meeting System Design Features  Bachelor Thesis
Understanding Mirroring Gaze Behavior During Remote Meetings Bachelor/ Master Thesis
