On January 16th 2018, 29 students of the lecture "Digital Service Design" (DSD) participated in the Commerzbank trip to Frankfurt. In front of more than 60 people from Commerzbank, Commerz Business Consulting, mainincubator and KIT, three teams had the chance to present the final results of their capstone project. The results of the students were well-received by the employees and fruitful discussions followed each presentation. After the presentations, the students participated in a tower tour and were shown around in the highest office building in Germany, the Commerzbank tower. A highlight of this tour was the view of Frankfurt from the 49th floor of the tower at a height of about 250m over the ground.
The capstone project was the practical part of the DSD lecture. At the beginning of the semester, Dennis Hummel and presented challenges in the banking industry and in particular the emerging topic of digital asset management or “robo-advisory”. The students were asked to dive into the topic of robo-advisors and to develop their own screens for a robo-advisor of Commerzbank. In the capstone project, the students created personas and use cases , built prototypes, and evaluated the prototypes. Thereby, the students applied the methods they learned in the lecture to the Commerzbank challenge on a real-world challenge.
